Let the paint bond!

Hold off on that shower curtain bar!

Even though you've waited 24 hours for the paint to dry, it takes up to 30 days for the paint to fully cure and bond to the wall.

Putting a tension rod or bar in place sooner then 30 days will result in the paint getting scraped off.

For the time being, install the tension bar against the fiber glass or tiled walls. It might be lower than you want but you'll be able to keep the bathroom floor dry!

Timer switches for bath fans.

It's recommended that you leave your exhaust fan running 30-60 minutes after taking a shower. This ensures that the moisture does not linger in the bathroom which will eventually lead to various problems such as moisture build up on painted surfaced such as walls and ceilings, paint peeling and even mold in places. A great solution is to replace the fan switch with a light timer switch. With incrememts of 10,20,30, and 60 minutes, just set it and forget it!

Ceiling Fans

Take caution before you take down that ceiling light in the bedroom and install a ceiling fan. Most likely the ceiling box is not rated for a fan. Fans oscillate so they need special ceiling boxes. Give us a call, we'd be glad to install these for you.

Caulk vs. Silicone

Caulk is paintable. Silicone is not. So when do you use one over the other?

Use silicone in a shower around the mixing valve trim for example.

Use caulk to fill joints between trim and walls. Now you can go ahead and paint the caulk.
